This class may be recommended or required for those working to respond to Coronavirus Dealing with hazardous materials can pose significant safety challenges for employees. The HAZWOPER Training program at DNTLCC is specifically tailored for individuals who will be tasked with responding to hazardous material incidents in construction and facility maintenance settings.

The Hazardous Waste Operations and Emergency Response standard (HAZWOPER) applies to five distinct groups of employers and their employees. This regulation encompasses workers who may be exposed to or potentially exposed to hazardous substances, including hazardous waste, in various operational scenarios outlined in 1910.120(a)(1)(i-v) and 1926.65(a)(1)(i-v):

  1. Clean-up operations mandated by a governmental body, whether at the federal, state, local, or other levels, involving hazardous substances at uncontrolled hazardous waste sites.
  2. Corrective actions, including clean-up operations, at sites governed by the Resource Conservation and Recovery Act of 1976 (RCRA), as amended (42 U.S.C. 6901 et seq.).
  3. Voluntary clean-up operations at sites recognized by governmental bodies as uncontrolled hazardous waste sites.
  4. Operations involving hazardous waste at treatment, storage, and disposal facilities regulated by Title 40 Code of Federal Regulations Parts 264 and 265 pursuant to RCRA, or by agencies authorized by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency to enforce RCRA regulations.
  5. Emergency response operations for releases of hazardous substances, or situations posing substantial threats of such releases, regardless of the location of the hazard.

Enrolling in our HAZWOPER Training program will equip you with the necessary knowledge and skills to safely and effectively respond to these hazardous material situations, including those related to the ongoing challenges posed by the Coronavirus.
